TEXTANHANG zur Entdeckung des Wasserberg-Outpost No. 2

Zurück zum Lager. Die Tiere schwitzen. Ich leere den Reservekanister
und verteile den Inhalt an die Drei. Sie haben großen Durst. Ganz klar, dass
sie mehr von dem kostbaren Naß wollen. Nach einer Verschnaufpause mache ich
mich zu einem weiteren Survey auf. Wasserberg-Outpost Nr. 2, den ich nach
wenigen Schritten erreiche, liegt 276 m über dem Meer. Auch hier ist im Luv
einer Hügelbank von den Kräften der Erosion ein (nicht sehr tiefes) Abri eingefräst. Auf seinem Boden liegt der
Oberschenkelknochen eines Kamels. Am Fels zwei Sandalenumrisse bzw. zwei
Fußabdruck-Konturen. Bei einen von ihnen ist der große Zeh angedeutet. Solch
eine Variante ist in Miroslav Verners Petroglyphenkatalog nicht aufgeführt. Es
muß daher offen bleiben, aus welcher Periode der ägyptischen Geschichte die
Gravur stammt. Unterhalb der Fußumrisse springen vier mit souveräner Hand
ausgeführte Vogelkopf-Wesen ins Auge. Es sind Geschöpfe, die ich zum ersten Mal
in der Wüste zu Gesicht bekomme. Weil ihre Extremitäten von Sand und Sediment
verdeckt sind, schiebe ich die lose Masse mit der Hand beiseite. Zum Vorschein
kommt (in 5 cm Tiefe)
Gazellenlosung. Was gäbe ich darum, die Exkremente einen Alterstest zu
unterziehen! Man könnte erfahren, wann in diesem totenstarren Wadi die
rehhaften Tiere auf Futtersuche waren und an diesem Platz Schutz vor der Sonne
suchten. Nicht weit von den Vogelkopfwesen befinden sich Gravuren von graviden
bzw. steatopygiden Frauen. Und eine Totenbarke. Dann ein paar verwischte
Wasserlinien. Sie sind nicht umrahmt. Ob sie einen Teich oder einen See
andeuten? Eine Ausblasung an der Ostseite der Hügelbank, fünf Meter tiefer
gelegen, könnte der Ort gewesen sein, an dem sich einst Wasser gesammelt hatte.
